1. Who we are and what this is
Wardrobe Match is a tool that slows down wardrobe purchase decisions, and when you use it we collect as little data as possible and handle it transparently, safely, and fairly, with stronger privacy standards (GDPR‑style) applied for everyone.
This Privacy Statement explains how Wardrobe Match collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the website, app, and related services, whether anonymously or as a logged‑in user.
2. Layers of use: anonymous vs logged‑in
Wardrobe Match operates in two main modes:
- Anonymous Quick Check (no login) — lets you run a decision check on an item without creating an account. Uses technical and analytics tools that may collect device‑level or pseudonymous data.
- Logged‑in account (saved decisions) — lets you create an account, save items to a board, and use profile and later insight features. Stores decision history in a database, along with your login identifier and any optional profile settings.
3. What data is collected – anonymous use
When you use Wardrobe Match anonymously, the service and its providers may collect:
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and basic log information needed to deliver and secure the site.
- Usage events: page views, button clicks, scrolls, and similar interaction data, including session recordings and heatmaps, configured not to intentionally capture sensitive content and avoiding inputs that could reveal highly personal information.
- Aggregated analytics: anonymous traffic statistics from hosting and analytics systems, without using third‑party tracking cookies for advertising.
This data is used to operate the service, understand how features are used, improve usability, and protect security and performance.
4. What data is collected – logged‑in use
If you create an account and use the saved decision space, Wardrobe Match may collect:
- Account identifiers: email address and authentication data, managed via our auth provider and database infrastructure.
- Decision history: item names, states (such as Watching, Decided, Bought, Not this time), notes, reasons for belonging, emotional reflections, prices, and optional links you enter.
- Optional profile settings: style modules, colour palette settings, and other preferences you choose to switch on.
- Service email metadata: information needed to send and deliver emails, including email address, delivery status, and timestamps.
Reflection notes can be personal in nature, and Wardrobe Match treats them with particular care: they are used only to provide you with decision support inside the product and to improve the service in aggregate, and are not used to target advertising at you.
5. Purposes and legal bases
Where data protection laws such as GDPR or UK GDPR apply, Wardrobe Match relies on:
- Contract: to provide the app and its core functions when you use Wardrobe Match or create an account.
- Legitimate interests: to perform security logging, non‑intrusive analytics, and service improvement, balanced against your rights and expectations.
- Consent: for non‑essential cookies or similar technologies in regions where opt‑in consent is required, and for optional marketing emails.
Outside those regions, similar principles are applied to ensure privacy‑respecting behaviour.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Wardrobe Match and its providers may use:
- Strictly necessary cookies or storage, for core site and login functionality.
- Analytics technologies, for non‑advertising measurement and user experience improvement.
In regions where required (such as the EU and UK), users will see a consent interface explaining non‑essential cookies and giving a choice before they are used.
7. Data sharing and international transfers
Wardrobe Match may share data with:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers, needed to run the site and database.
- Analytics providers, for non‑advertising measurement and session analysis.
- Email providers, for account and service emails.
If Wardrobe Match is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Statement and any further notices provided at the time.
Because providers and infrastructure may be located in different countries (including Japan, the EU, the UK, the US, and elsewhere), data may be transferred internationally. Where required, Wardrobe Match will implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections under local law.
8. Retention and shutdown
Wardrobe Match aims to keep data only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations:
- Anonymous technical and analytics data are retained for limited periods consistent with security and measurement needs.
- Account and decision history are retained while your account is active and for a defined period afterwards, unless you request deletion.
If Wardrobe Match plans to shut down the service or materially change how personal data is used, users will be given a reasonable period of notice, and, where feasible, an opportunity to export or delete their data before the service is closed or changed.
9. Your rights and how to exercise them
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access your data, correct it, or request deletion of account information and decision history.
- Object to certain types of processing or request restriction.
- Receive a copy of certain data in a portable format.
Wardrobe Match intends to provide in‑app tools to delete your account and associated decision history. Where in‑app tools are not available or do not cover your request, you can contact us using the details on the website.
Where laws such as GDPR or UK GDPR apply, Wardrobe Match will respond to requests within the timelines set by those laws, normally within one month.
For residents of the EU/EEA and UK, GDPR/UK GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) apply. For residents of California and other US states with privacy laws, rights such as the right to know, delete, and opt out of certain activities apply to the extent Wardrobe Match engages in covered activities. For residents of Brazil, Canada, Australia, and other countries with privacy laws, local rights apply alongside this Statement.
10. Children's privacy
Wardrobe Match does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 and does not target minors. If Wardrobe Match becomes aware that a child's personal information has been collected, steps will be taken to delete it where required by law.
11. Security
Wardrobe Match and its providers implement technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, proportionate to the nature of the data and risks involved.
12. Region‑specific information
Additional privacy information for specific regions (EU/EEA, UK, US/California, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and others) may be provided in annexes or on dedicated pages and should be read together with this Statement.
13. Changes and contact
This Privacy Statement may be updated from time to time to reflect legal or product changes. The "Last updated" date will be revised and, where changes are significant, users will be notified through the website, app, or email.
Contact details for privacy questions and rights requests are provided in the Wardrobe Match website footer.
